I have waited a long time to capture a scene like this. A scene that juxtaposes the stoicism of an immovable mountain against the fickle nature of wind. Mountains and wind. Like a metaphor for life itself. We go through life tolerating being tossed by the winds of change as long as we can hold on to some mountain of certainty that anchors us to what we hold dear. During a recent road trip to Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh, there were a couple of days that had us driving by scattered fields of barley swaying in the wind with the Himalayas towering up from the distant horizon line. The opportunity presented itself one evening close to sunset and I just had to pull over by the side of the dirt road.
